Born January 14 1984 in Kenya, Ajuma Nasenyana , got first public recognition after winning the Tourism Kenya competition 2003. The international agency Ford became attentive to Ajuma and signed her up for the Ford Models Supermodel of the World Competition. In this international competition she was 4th runner-up and became the first black model to have won a contract amounting to $50,000. Ajuma proved herself in the international fashion industry by appearing alongside Alek Wek and Naomi Campbell at New York Fashion Week for designers like Baby Phat and Carlos Mienes and walked in Milan and Paris. Famous designers such as Cavalli, Viktor&Rolf, Vivienne Westwood and Diane von Furstenberg booked her for their fashion shows. In 2006 she featured in the Victoria’s Secret show and has been shot for an Issey Miyake catalogue and several magazine editorials.
