Photographer
Born in Arlington, Massachusetts in 1954, David Armstrong graduated from Boston Museum School and Cooper Union in 1978 and earned a B.F.A. from Tufts University in 1988. He first gained recognition for his intimate portraits of men as either lovers and friends, in sharp focus. In contrast to this work he began to shoot cityscapes and landscapes in soft focus in the nineties. His photographs have been shown in several group exhibitions including the 1995 Whitney Biennial and ‘Emotions and Relations’ at the Hamburger Kunsthalle. David is based in New York.
