Born in 1968 in Paris, fashion designer and all-rounder Hedi Slimane was educated as a tailor and studied political science and art history at the École de Louvre, Paris. Working for Luis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior Hedi was named International Designer of the Year 2002 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. In 2007 he started the ‘Young American’ project with his friend Gus Van Sant which was shown in FOAM museum. Besides his work as a designer he’s running various other projects, including becoming editor-in-chief of Libération, designing album covers for artists such as Phoenix, publishing several books of his photography and contributing to many fashion and style magazines. Slimane divides his time between Paris and Los Angeles.
