Born in Erlangen, Germany in 1964 Jürgen Teller studied at the Photo-design Academy Munich and moved to London in 1986. Meeting photographer Nick Knight Jürgen started to portrait musicians such as Elton John, Sinéad O’ Conner and the Cocteau Twins and contributed to scene and fashion magazines including i-D, The Face and Arena. He met stylist and art director Venetia Scott who pushed him into fashion and with whom he has a daughter. In 1991 Jürgen went on tour with the then unknown band Nirvana. In the early 1990s he is an internal part of the new fashion scene and contributes to major magazines whose editors appreciate his direct and open style. Jürgen is regarded as one of the most influential of contemporary fashion photographers and contributed to Dazed& Confused, W, all the Vogues as well as shooting major campaigns for clients such as Comme de Garçons, Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang, Hugo Boss, Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Katherine Hamnett and Blumarine.
