Lead Awards 2009 PartII
by Mertol Akinci posted on April 02, 2009The dispute between DER SPIEGEL and the organization of the Lead Awards was reconciled at the very last minute and even though the budget wasn’t in place to have the event on its usual high scale due to sponsorship decline, the Lead Awards still went on and was moderated by Peichel.
But enough of that – let’s take a look at the award winners!
German Vogue walked away with a double crowned victory in the ‘Magazines’ category.
They received a Gold for ‘Feature Of The Year’ and Bronze for ‘Cover Of The Year’. Both winning pieces were photographed by Mario Testino in Vogue’s ‘Sex’ issue.
American Apparel were the winners in the ‘Campaign Of The Year’ category. A huge congratulations to Dov Charney and his creative team. Silver and Bronze in the same category went to Lee (Make History) and BMW (never Stand Still).
Winners in the ‘Art Direction Of The Year’ category included Vans (Original since 1966) who took home Gold, H&M (Comme Des Garcons) got the Silver and Tom Fords spring/summer campaign 2008 were honoured with the Bronze award.
The final category was for photography in the aptly titled, ‘Mood And Fashion’ award. The winner was Steven Meisel and his beautifully presented Vogue Pattern techniques. The piece was published in Italian Vogue and later in SZ Magazine. Take a look at it for yourself here.
