The Elle Style Awards took place in London last night in usual glitzy fashion. Movers and shakers from the worlds of fashion, music, TV and film were there – the guestlist included Pete Doherty, Roisin Murphy, Alexandra Burke, Jade Jagger and even the PM’s wife, Sarah Brown. But it is through gritted teeth must I bring you the tragic news that they have given their top ‘Elle Style Icon 2009 Award’ to Sienna Miller. Seriously? How boring! How predictable! And how completely not true! They said she was given the award for her ‘unique, fashion-forward style’. I think she should be given an award for her top man-eating, billionaire-bagging abilities, and that’s about it. I would say Eva Mendes is far more interesting, or Thandie Newton (who was also there). Interestingly enough, on the same day Sienna also found out that has definitely lost her Maid Marion role in the forthcoming Oliver Stone directed Robin Hood movie to the far more talented and lovely Cate Blanchett. Sienna miller: bad actress, great clothes horse!

Slumdog Millionaire was again the winner of most of the awards, with delightful young actress Freida Pinto taking home the award for best actress, and actor Mickey Rourke getting his second best actor award.

For me, the greatest surprise of the night looks-wise was Anna Friel. She wore a gorgeous sexy off the shoulder sheer dress, but it was her face that was captivating – whoever did her make-up needs a raise! It really showed off her cat-like features. She was giving seriously good face.

The very stylish TV presenter Alexa Chung, who hosted the event, was voted Best TV Star but the big surprise of the night was Courtney Love winning of Woman of The Year. OK then. Whatever they are smoking over at Elle UK, I’ll have some too please.
