Backstage Insights At Designer For Tomorrow
by Beeke Melcher posted on June 09, 2009On Monday LEXPOSURE.NET got the chance to see behind the curtains of the creative kick off for the second edition of P&C’s Designer for Tomorrow Award. Like last season, the award and show are held in line with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Representatives from Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf, co-operatives from IMG and the final eight young aspiring designers who entered to win the Designer for Tomorrow Award got together for a creative meeting of minds.
For the first time since entering into the running for the Designer for Tomorrow Award, the eight contestants Arkadius Giesek, Sasa Kovecivic, Eva-Maria Bogar, Derya Issever, Lena Pfeil, Chantal Mariotta, Sam Frenzel and Simon Hannibal Fischer were brought together so that they could meet and check each other out.
Also at the unveiling yesterday was Ex-VICE Magazine stylist Sarah Sharon Karsten who had been styling the first edition of P&C’s design award back in January, already. She will give a helping hand to the eight finalists in their selection of accessories and the set-up of their collections. Throughout the award competition process – every designer gets the chance to talk over their wishes for the show’s proceedings.
An amazing co-operation has again been arranged with renowned Berghain / Panoramabar resident DJ’s Tama Sumo and Prosumer. The two are going to arrange special show music for every contestant while putting all of the individual tracks into a single frame composition.
Besides the photo shooting for the campaign, video material for the introduction of every designer at the show, which is to be held on July 3rd, was also shot. Exclusive media coverage by Bunte TV, DIE WELT and Glam.de shows the interest that is peaking in the design competition.
Not only does the winner gain prize money and an individual promotion program by P&C, but all the contestants profit from their participation. Definitely one of the best design talent steppingstones!
