EASTPAK Spring/Summer 2010 – Street Credibility
by Katharina Withelm posted on July 02, 2009Second day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off with the EASTPAK Show this morning.
Being a lable ‘from the streets for the streets’, the brand showed cedibility, as today was the highlight of the EASTPAK collaboration with Gangway e.V., an organisation for streetwork in Berlin.
Instead of models, the collection was show by kids from deprived areas of Berlin, with whom EASTPAK was working together for the last few months.
Starting off with a movie about the project, the kids came up the runway in renowned cozy-cool EASTPAK Streetwear Style.
Mainly straight-cut jeans, T-Shirts with “Build To Resist” prints, grey hoodies with loud colourful highlights, striking all-over prints and nylon jackets in bubble coloures like turquoise, pink, yellow, mint-green.
Some of them as reversible jackets with colourful lining for the boys as well as for the girls.
Accessorised by bright, flashy sunglasses and caps and of course the latest EASTPAK shoulder bags, backpacks and trolley bags.
Despite from the casual streetlook, there were loads of jersey dresses and jeans minis for the girls, always combined with leggins in blazing neon-coloures, shirts with different prints, slightly transparent tops and sarouel pants.
It was really cool to see the kids enjoying themselves representing ‘the street’ infront of the fashion related audience and it was impressive how well they managed it.
Way out breakdance moves and two of the kids riding down the catwalk on wicked low-rider bikes was definitely the icing on the cake!
