A Colorful Mixture at FakePR
by Johannes Keil posted on April 08, 2009During last week’s Berlin Press Days FakePR, which is located in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte, offered a glimpse of many different cool, fancy and hip labels. First in line were PRPS with their super cool boyfriend-cut jeans – made famous by actress Katie Holmes – and checkered shirts and jackets of exquisite fabrication. Besides the legendary boyfriend cut there is a new slim fit jeans out there. Simply captivating, to say the least! PRPS took over some old 29-inch weaving looms of denim’s big player Levi’s thus production is fairly limited. Produced from cotton that is grown in Zimbabwe and processed at selected family business denim producers in Japan, you can follow your jeans’ worldtrip on the label inside. The comparatively high prices for the it-label’s jeans arise as a result from this exclusive manufacturing process.
As usual, Urban Outfitters were represented with a cool, mixed collection of their own stuff and some other stylish brands – this store is always a must! One of their shirts, saying ‘No Snow No Show’, perfectly captures the kind of hipster attitude most of their customers are sporting day in, day out. Please don’t ask how we know. It honestly is a miracle to us that they haven’t expanded into Berlin, yet! But don’t worry: for those of us who do not want to rely on shopping online entirely, the first German Urban Outfitters branch has opened in Hamburg last autumn. Would make for a nice weekend getaway, wouldn’t it? Further stores are being planned.
London shoe designer and British Fashion Award 2008 winner Rupert Sanderson was showcased with his skyscraper sexy heels. With his factory based in Bologna, he guarantees ultimate quality from famous Italian shoemakers coupled with London inspired designs. Having equipped Karl Lagerfeld’s Autumn/Winter fashion show this season, Rupert Sanderson is definitely the next favorite designer of New York’s Park Avenue princesses.
Our personal favorite, though, were Linda Farrow’s amazing vintage sunglasses – forgotten in a shed for some thirty years and now rediscovered by her son – and the brand’s collaborations with the likes of Bernhard Willhelm, Dries van Noten, Luella or Jeremy Scott, to name just a few.
Another label represented by FakePR that is definitely worth mentioning here, is Danish designer and workaholic Malene Birger. Highly productive with her six collections a year, her current collection, coined by grown-up earth tones with classy patterns and cute application details, contrasted the other ones on show at FakePR really well.
LeadAwards winner 2007 for best advertisement of the year Fred Perry was showcased with their velvet minted girl’s collection – edgy, fresh and streetwise, as always.
Unfortunately, Naples-based Luigi Borrelli and his collection weren’t featured this time round – we would have loved to get a glimpse at his always worthwhile designs.
All in all, we gotta say that FakePR are turning into a real fashionista’s agency. Nice work so far! Now please keep it up that way.
