The avant-garde rules at no.mad agency
by Johannes Keil posted on May 20, 2009One of Berlin’s PR powerhouses, no.mad agency, showcased their clients’ amazingly creative garments at POOL Gallery. All of no.mad’s labels combine innovation and quality and take their inspiration from zeitgeisty currents.
The fourth collection of FELDER•FELDER, a label run by the Felder sisters – both are Central Saint Martins graduates – immediately wowed us. By employing refined styles and using only highest quality materials they consolidate their identity and underline their development. Emphasized shoulders and waists, playing with the idea of a corset but nonetheless always rockingly fresh, you could easily see their inspiration was punk rebel Iggy Pop. In short, FELDER•FELDER just absolutely whet a fashionista’s appetite! May I have the leather jacket with the all-over studs, please?
Not less thrillingly, the Berlin-based creatives q.e.d., Penkov and von Wedel & Tiedeken also offered exclusive cool, fashionable cuts and patterns.
Our guys were stunned by the unique blend of simplicity and friskiness of menswear label q.e.d. (quod erat demonstrandum). High quality fashioning processes coupled with exclusive production in Germany guarantee high-end pieces. Having already shown there styles at Beck’s Fashion Experience, Karstadt New Generation Award and at London Fashion Week this January, the team of ESMOD Berlin graduates – Jasmin Moallim, Julia Böge and Simona Gabrieli – outfit today’s cool urban guy.
Budapest-born Bernadette Penkov, also a graduate of prestigious fashion school ESMOD in Berlin, has already had celebrated success in London and Tokyo. Furthermore, she has won the Moët & Chandon Fashion Debut, not once but twice. With her clean, casual but luxurious clothing she has built up quite a reputation and dazzling resumé for herself! Unfortunately, we couldn’t take a look at Penkov’s latest collection for the same reason we couldn’t have a chat with her in person: Bernadette and her sample pieces were in Tokyo for promotional reasons.
Last on our list of highlights at no.mad: von Wedel & Tiedeken. With their latest collection – Libertad – the duo are celebrating freedom. This happens through manufacturing exceptional styles with an edge by putting together different materials. Sportiness combined with fashionability, that is truly what a girl needs in the urban jungle of today’s metropolis!
