Y3 and Fashion loves Sports

by Floor Serbrock posted on March 11, 2010

What happens when Japanese designer fashion and German sports apparel join forces? Y-3. Combining the functionality of sportswear with the elegance of fashion, Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas have teamed up since 2002 and this february saw another collection showcased on the New York runways.

The darkness and understated industrial edge of Yamamoto combined with the fresher, more light-hearted tone of Adidas were again characteristic of this season’s collection. This burgundy, baggy look is one of my favorites. You can see more of the show here and here.

The extensively fashion oriented generation of today is always up to setting up a signature identity and flaunt an offbeat style statement. The fashion world is flooding with ideas each season and the different creations of the fashion designers make the scenario far more happening. No matter who or where you are, the fashion industry affects you. Every morning when you look into your closet and choose to wear an item you purchased, you have affected your budget, our environment, somebody’s job, the national economy, and a company’s bottom line. Fashion is not like any runaway Prius, it's something that's earning a statement and quality in the market.
