Beth Cavener Stichter: On Tender Hooks Exhibition Sees Goats Embrace
by jobot *** posted on December 03, 2009It’s not often that I am shocked by artwork. Coming from London where the likes of Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas (my favs by the way!), lurk around every corner to give us a grim and 100% shocking account of how life really is in the noughties – it takes a lot to get my jaw to drop. The latest exhibition by artiste, Beth Cavener Stichter, called, On Tender Hooks, isn’t amongst those that shock either – but Beth’s work that is currently on show at the Claire Oliver Gallery in New York is well and truly the next step up on the ‘shock’ ladder gradient and should definitely be attended before its closure on the 5th of December. I know – not much time to get yourself to it, but believe me with its sculptures of embracing goats (with throbbing genitalia to boot!), this one is worth cancelling your Christmas party to see!
