Stop & Look
by Floor Serbrock posted on February 25, 2010Lauren Hutton. The gap-toothed beauty, who rocked the safari 70‘s and white fur-coated 80‘s like no other. Like all my muses from this era, I like her because she just looks so COOL.
Take this picture of her in a car, top-hatted and gleefully yelling at someone. Or looking positively goddess-like in a white empire dress, her glance unfazed but kind. That glance, so powerful, not many people have an expression so full.
And then there‘s that amazing color photograph, which I elect to be the archetype of the 80‘s. The velvet. The shoulder pads. The sequined clutch and jet-black feathers draped around her arm. The frazzle-curled gentleman with his slightly over-sized suit draped around her other arm. Should I know his name? He looks like a sophisticated, straighter member of Duran Duran going to a formal dinner.
And you‘d think with all that beauty she must have usurped it all with youth. But even at 66, lady Hutton looks amazing- classy, understated, shining.
