Day 6: The Ball from Neon.
by Camila Schwarz posted on January 25, 2009Who would have thought that this small label which started in 2003 as a beachware brand that operated out of the homes of designers Dudu Bertholini and Rita Comparato, would come all the way to SPFW. They made their name as a quintessential ‘made-in-Brasil’ brand; everyone wanted their bikinis, which came in all the colours of the rainbow and with very interesting prints.
Now during this show, we could see just how far they have come form their swimwear days. There were 20 looks on show, with many references of 50´s cocktail dresses but with a very tropical touch. The winter 09 collection from Neon is called “The Ball”.
The dresses were bursting with colorful glamour – Neon certainly don’t seem to want to give the impression they are worried about the credit crunch! The jewelry was very exotic, matching with details from the outfit. There was lots and lots of sequins on the dresses and skirts and shiny embroidery on the blouses, meaning the whole collection shimmered. The hats were simply great, following the theme of the show, taking this woman to a high society day party. I loved the golden sequin short dress, thats exactly the look for a night when you really want to get all the attention!
The show was typical “Neon”: – they again brought an extravaganza into the runway. The models were working it and looking gorgeous! Congrats!
