The Final Report!
by Camila Schwarz posted on January 25, 2009After 6 days of fashion shows, parties, backstage action and gossip, SPFW winter/fall 09 is over. “Happiness” was the main theme and the ending to the event was beautiful – they did a special wrap party where small colored plastic balls rained down from the roof, covering the entire pavilion and putting smiles on everyones faces.
There was the presence of the international top-model Agyness Deyn, who walked for Ellus, and our home-grown supermodel Gisele Bündchen was also there to show her charms. Also models who had disappeared for a while from the catwalks were there. Ana Beatriz Barros, Thalita Pugliesi, Ana Claudia Michels made their come-back after being 2 years away from the SPFW. The reason? They needed a break back at home!
Lino Villaventura and Alexandre Herchcovitch were in my opinion the best shows of this season. Both brought glamour and freedom to the catwalk. Alexandre Herchcovitch had luxury rock and Lino Villaventura had sophisticated elegancy. Journalists like Adriana Bechara, Costanza Pascolato, Gloria Kalil, Lilian Pacce, Lula Rodrigues and Maria Prata share the same opinion.
This years homage was made to the famous Brazilian singer and performer, Carmen Miranda who was and will always be the the biggest symbol of Happiness for this country. The expo is called Carmen Pop Miranda and it shows a little bit of what this little woman did in her career. She was the only Brazilian icon ever to make to Hollywood. She promoted Brazil all over the world, wearing a hat topped with tropical fruits, she is considered to be the precursor of Brazil´s Tropicalismo.
It’s fantastic to see that Sao Paulo Fashion Week is getting better and better, I am proud to say that! I’ve really enjoyed reporting on it – its brought me some much-needed Brazilian heat to me over in germany, and I hope to you too!
