Day 2: The Jewish Glamour!
by Camila Schwarz posted on January 21, 2009The second day showed big names, especially interesting was designer Alexandre Herchcovitch, who famously started his career creating outfits for transexuals, prostitutes and t-shits for the underground scene in Sao Paulo. He then became the Creative Director for labels such as Cori and Zoomp brand he has shown his collections in London and Paris.
For his Winter 2009 collection he created 25 looks that took in a wild variety of inspiration from the cabaret to cubist muses to surreal erotic dreams to the german punk of the early 80´s.
Alexandre Herchcovitch certainly made an impression on the audience. His collection was full of sequins – the good kind! The looks that emerged told an intense and colourful story, with sequined leggings under shorts, black pants and sequined miniskirts. Stripes and graphics on embroidered dresses also added to the overall bright effect.
At the end of the show, the fake fur brought the glamour into this collection, which is Alexandre´s biggest trade mark. I am sure that every piece was sold before the show was even over! Success! Only one complaint – for a designer with such a big vision it was a shame that he had to show in room number 4 – which is a very small room. Hopefully next year he moves to the larger stage he deserves it.
