4. Move away, Anna Wintour!
by LEXPOSURE .NET posted on January 08, 2009Traditionally, Editors are treated as behind the scene material; yet who can hide Europe’s most talented, most glamorous Editors in the closet? I am, of course, speaking about Vogue Russia’s Editor in Chief Aliona Doletskaya and Vogue Paris’ Editor in Chief Carine Roitfeld.
Both Ms Roitfeld and Ms Doletskaya received much attention in September during the Spring/Summer Fashion Week, during which a rumour circulated that American Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour would soon be replaced by one of her European counterparts as there is no doubt that under the reign of Ms Wintour, Vogue U.S. has suffered from a rather monotonous style and repetitive content despite appointment of one of the best and most creative writers, which ultimately dooms it to its stale and predictable fate.
The rumour is not true at all and the acclaimed editor who earned her nickname as “Nuclear Wintour” for her utter demands for control and power within the Vogue office, has affirmed that she would not be leaving Vogue.
The origin of this rumour in regards to the appointment of these two likely candidates came about, as spectators predicted that they seemed like a natural choice to adapt to Vogue U.S., as they both have an intricate eye for beauty, understand the nature of the business as “everything that is gorgeous, stunning, caramel on top of caramel, and cream on top of that”, as Ms Doletskaya described the fashion industry in an article for The New York Times and fuels the industry with nothing but the above-mentioned fabulousness. Their success particularly lies in the fact that they truly adept to changes in the modern world and sets what’s contemporary and vogue instead of submitting to a world of uniformity. This results in unbelievable excitement at the newsstand each month.
Although their similarity from personal style to the style of the magazine they are in charge of is unmistakeable – both have chosen a hyper-hypnotic image of the edgy-faced Russian model Anna Selezneva for their massive September issue, Ms Doletskaya still relies on Ms Roitfeld’s network in the fashion industry, but no doubt that would not stop the red hot Russian editor from becoming the head of Vogue U.S. if that day is ever to come about.
