Celine Cruise 2010: Girl, I am a woman!

Life after Chloé has brought the English womenswear designer firstly motherhood and now, an additional role as creative director of the French luxury fashion house Celine.
As oppose to its drastic directorial changes, Celine‘s style for cruise builds onto its quiet image of refinement in the same level, where former designer Ivana Omazić left off – a breezy wave of non-chalant minimalism.
Contrary to the former Croatian leader at Celine, Ms. Philo is certainly having an impact on the fashion world, as she brings global media spotlight onto the subdued Parisian label. Although fans of her girl-friendly clothing are missing her designs of the past, she is already enjoying a sea of raved reviews from the most fastidious fashion critics for this particularly modern and womanly collection.
Presented in a bare lofted space in Chelsea, it is evident that the 30-something year old Brit has digested influences from hyped moments from fashion houses, such as Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati and Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, to create the artistic vision for cruise 2010: sharp tailoring with rigid well-proportioned shapes in a range of fresh delectable colours from finesse nudes to a sea of navy blue and lush moss green. The fabrics used this cruise, like silk crepe and soft leather, exhibit the same subtle delicacy.
Ultimately, this sleek and streamlined approach is a heavenly match for Celine‘s bon chic, bon genre woman.
Modelled by Thana Kuhnen and Lexposed face Jeanne Bouchard, we particularly liked the exquisite range of cropped tuxedo blazers, classic boy-cut trousers, charming cocktail dresses and above all, those ankle-strap sandals with mirrored heels.
”I worked hard to create things that will stand the test of time,” explains Ms. Philo.
With that in mind, we are quite sure we would see a crowd swamping Celine stores in late November, when the collection hits stores worldwide.
