Free for Yves Saint Laurent!
by Rie Cau posted on February 13, 2009The date is Friday, February 13, 2009 – a.k.a. first Black Friday of 2009.
Fans and devotee of the work of Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent shall unfortunately be reduced to the cruel fate of experiencing a long sleepless night tonight, as the time bomb is clicking away slowly but surely on the eve of the launch of the French luxury Fashion house’s forth manifesto by chief creative designer Stefano Pilati.
The occasion is to celebrate the launch of the Spring/Summer 2009 line, which embodies a chic stylish woman, whom has a perfect balance of a style that is classical and yet modern. She is effortlessly seductive, glamorous and romantic; and this image is precisely encapsulated by the ageless iconic German Supermodel Claudia Schiffer as the perfect emblem of a Saint Laurent woman in the advertising campaign photographed by the creative power force of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Perfectly chosen to take place on Valentine’s Day, Yves Saint Laurent will flood both the virtual world and the real world with love in total YSL style. The manifesto images and a short behind-the-scenes video will be launched virtually on ysl.com and on the streets in six different metropolitan cities all over the world – Paris, New York, London, Milan, Tokyo and Hong Kong – over half a million copies of the 20 page Manifesto is to be distributed.
Moreover, 2 000 limited edition signature cotton tote bags will be distributed on the celebrated occasion. This is evidently to a large extent less than the 5 000 bags distributed last September for the launch of the Fall/Winter 2008/09 Manifesto however, the bag is manifestly a tempting treat, which indulges pleasure with an overflowing source of collector’s goods including a heart-shaped USB key decorated with images of the celebrated ad campaign, stickers, Hollywood signs as well as a making-of video in Hollywood with the photographer duo.
Residents of London and Hong Kong are spoilt rotten in comparison to their fellow ‘neighbours’ in the other four cities of the global village, as the former has been provided with location and time of the long-awaited event.
In London, the event will take place at 11am local time at Bond Street, Knightsbridge, High Street Kensington and Covent Garden; whereas noon at Queen’s Road, Central, outside the Mark’s and Spencer store in Hong Kong.
No matter where you are, just remember the key to success is to run fast and be smart!
