Saga Sigurdardottir makes lovely pictures
by Floor Serbrock posted on January 29, 2010At just 23 years of age and not even a graduate yet from her studies at the London College of Fashion, Icelandic-native Saga Sigurdardottir is firmly establishing herself as a fashion photographer, with her work featured in such magazines as Dazed&Confused and Lurve Magazine.
Saga plays around with different styles, so her work compiles a very eclectic collection, but all images are bonded by the vibe that‘s just gushing out of them. Some are confusing and intriguing, others trashy and sensual, some are dusky and some are fresh; all are a fragment of a story. In this her images are a narrative in their own right, prompting tales of what happened before and what happens after.
Judging from the pictures she posts on her blog, she herself takes inspiration from melancholic 1940‘s images, weird 1940‘s bondage images, Salvador Dali surrealism, and above all: beautiful women. Her own style, eclectic as it is, is oft reminiscent of the works of Juergen Teller, pale and enigmatic.
