Top 5 Mementos Of The King Of Pop
by Rie Cau posted on June 26, 2009The fashion world is absolutely upside down upon hearing about the death of our favourite dancer, singer and style icon – Michael Jackson (1958-2009).
The news came as a huge unbelievable surprise for all of us, especially because we are all eagerly thrilled about his ”This is it” tour next month – an extravagant event on the radar with an all glittering wardrobe head-to-toe from Swarovski.
Though the King Of Pop has left us physically forever; his eccentric spirits, his notoriously smooth dance moves, his incredible music and above all, his unique style will live on with us forever and ever. It is with great sadness that LEXPOSURE dedicate this post in remembrance of the ingenious inventor of the ”moon walk” and present to you these special top 5 mementos.
- Balmain‘s Biker Jacket
It is not hard to tell that Christophe Decarnin‘s recent collections for Balmain are inspired by the fabulous 80s and in particular the King himself.
How else to relive those fabulous moments than to equip yourself with one of these sharp and sculpted biker jackets from Balmain? Made with ultra-soft black shiny leather with lots of Jackson-esque details – straps, pockets, heavy zippers and chains embellished with crystals, this Balmain biker jacket from the Spring/Summer 2009 collection is a sure must have!
Available at mrsh.se.
- Gareth Pugh‘s glitter gloves
Beyoncé Knowles, the incredible R&B singer, wore it to the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards; so you know these metallic blingbling gloves are major! Designed by British IT-designer Gareth Pugh, these gloves are the very definition of tough love and naturally, we love it soooo much!
- Gucci‘s Fedora Hat
How else to imitate the ultra-cool Jackson moves on the dance floor than with the full gear? Ultimately, this means that the hat moves are absolutely impossible without this fabulous Fedora hat from Gucci by Frida Giannini. It sure does add that extra mystery and above all, sexuality to complete those smooth moves we learnt from its respective pioneer.
Oh, the way these hats make us feel.
Available at Gucci.
- Over The Stripes’ The King T-Shirt
The King T-Shirt from the label Over the Stripes features a deadly cool image of Jacko on the front and reads ”1958- the true king of pop, rock and soul” on the back. Naturally, 1958 marks the year when the legendary pop rock star was born. We like it, because it makes a WOW statement without even saying anything.
Available from oki-ni.com.
- Thriller Doll
It is never easy to say goodbye and so to end this post on an optimistic note, we are delighted to present to you the full Jackson package: the Thriller Doll. Now that the King is no longer with us, it is not hard at all to predict that this thrillingly-lifelike doll will once again become a most sought-after collector‘s item with prices catapulted drastically.
We love everything about this doll – from his chilly red outfit to its serious expressions. It says MJ to its core!
Long live the King!
