Totem Spring/Summer 2010: Striking A Sunny Pose
by Rie Cau posted on June 15, 2009The sun is for sure the centripetal force of all life forms on earth. This includes Totem‘s designer Fred D‘Orey – the sporty surfing champion, who established his sportswear label in 1994.
For Spring/Summer 2010, the sun-loving designer has once again derived his inspiration from that striking source: the sun.
Befittingly, the backdrop of the runway is decorated with a large red glow to reflect the sun‘s boundless power.
The collection is, consequently, drenched in bright sunny colours and vivacious prints.
We saw a range of easy-to-wear dresses, which is silhouetted loosely around the body, so that it blows gently and bewitchingly on the beaches (of Ipanema).
Swimwear is once again made in the most daring and most challenging cuts, as it criss-crosses around the body in creative forms.
For men, everything is easy – nothing over-the-top stylish, everything is just right. We liked those crisp white pants with a subtle blue print. They can be easily paired to look extraordinarily casual and charmingly smart!
Overall, the collection is one that is typically Brazilien – it infuses its own dose of effervescent personality and most of all, its own originality uncontaminated by the trends from other fashion capitals of the world.
Naturally, we like Brazil… au naturale!
