Vogue Germany Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Karl Lagerfeld Editorial
by jobot *** posted on September 22, 2009I think the title says it all here. THEN WE TAKE BERLIN is the name given by the undisputed king of fashion, Karl Lagerfeld, as he guested to shoot an editorial for Vogue Germany’s 30th Anniversary. A personality with very distinctive German roots, Karl’s work is also featured alongside that of fellow Germans, Bruce Weber and Peter Lindbergh. All three photographers used Berlin as their ‘jumping off point’ and Lagerfeld cast model Edita Vilkeviciute as Anita Berber, a dancer and actress whom he commented as being, ‘the Kate Moss of Berlin in the Twenties’.
Not only is this issue of Vogue important for the magazine but this year also marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall and 60th anniversary of the Federal Republic of Germany. Heavy stuff it may be, but I think that the three photographers work their best to help us to appreciate the beauty and wonderment that has come from one of the world’s most under appreciated countries.
