Auguste, Skyrocketing Step By Step

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on May 05, 2009

Auguste’s real debuts were in Milan this season, when she suddenly caught worldwide attention for walking iconic runways like Jil Sander, Prada or Burberry Prorsum. Not only the fact these were her very first steps looked completely fantastic, she was also one of the rare newcomers to be able to walk both Prada and Jil Sander. So fresh and already mixing the best of both worlds. Some careers are starting right. And fast.

Now, it would be unfair to qualify her management only by the speed of her first achievements. The overall approach of her career is careful and extremely well-done, thanks to the efforts of both Women Milan and her mother agency Vacatio Models. They did the right placements at the right time and seemed to focus on the image rather than the amount of work. Auguste didn’t walk much more than five shows this season, in only one town and she’s also combining her success as a model with her studies. Skyrocketing maybe, but step by step. Clever development.

Luisa Kamshilina: A Sublime Surprise Under The Sullen Sky

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on May 07, 2009

Paris, last day of fashion week, sixteenth district, windy weather and the strange atmosphere of the end. The end of the shows or even the end of an era, nobody could tell. We’ll probably know more next season. Only the feeling of seeing potential changes coming soon, released of any usual expectations, was driving us step by step to Miu Miu’s doors. Released and relieved, no rush anymore. Fashion week looked so sweet at that moment. That’s where our story begins.

A tall brunette, a lanky silhouette, a pretty face delicately frowning. The grumpy mood of a girl who walked the show as an exclusive. Luisa Kamshilina was the girl number one that afternoon, the girl who opened Miu Miu. It took us a few minutes to realize who she was: the same girl we had noticed a few weeks before, the sensational Luisa from Stardom Management in Russia. Russel Marsh and Miuccia Prada did it a again, their ability to surprise us was intact. Or completely regenerated…

Two month later, the mysterious appeal of Ms. Kamshilina is still as high and perfectly matches Paul Rowland’s current inspiration for his polaroids at Supreme. Russel and Miuccia aren’t the only ones able to renew the greatest formulas, it seems. Spooky and sophisticated images, black nails and light eyebrows, greys and browns. Quiet yet stormy mood. The next chapter in Luisa’s own story is currently being written in New York. We couldn’t watch it without dropping a few lines, here and now.

Oh She's Back, Oh She's Great: Ronja in Milan

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on May 13, 2009

A few weeks ago we updated with the latest tests she did in her home country. And it seems already that it belongs to another era and the reason might be the way time goes by. Very different speeds from one week to the other when it’s about models development. Now, Ronja van de Berg just arrived in Milan. That was yesterday, today she’s got some brand new polaroids and tomorrow is another day.

Ronja is one of these girls who look better day after day, improve step by step, but will never lose what has made them so remarkable. She’s got her own formula, a secret mixture of sweetness, endless legs and a unique shade of strawberry-blond hair. From Future Faces in Amsterdam, her mother agency, to d’management who takes care of her in Milan right at the minute, everyone seems aware of the high potential and does his best to develop it to another level.

Then, we could also consider her come-back in town as a very good sign. Last time she strengthened her portfolio with jobs like Amica, shot by Massimo Pamparana. This time again, they promised us to do their very best. We should better stay tuned.

Believe In Bregje

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on May 18, 2009

The first thing you might notice about Bregje Heinen, after her incredible potential and lovely face, is her name. You might need some time to find out how to pronounce it and it took us to hear it from a dutch mouth to know. Actually it sounds like the perfect name for her: awesome and surprising. Managed by Micha Models in Amsterdam, she hasn’t stopped appearing in editorials since her debuts, featured in various magazines and even on covers. From colorful and girly moods to much darker atmospheres, she’s also impressive as a talented chameleon.

So, she’s charming and multi-tasked, she’s already doing very well… what else ? What’s coming next in such a brilliant career in making ? Nobody can tell it exactly right now but all her agents worldwide believe in a bright future for her. Including Women Direct in New York, where these polaroids were taken. Capturing the best of Bregje, the sleek side as much as her raw (and pure) expressions. Some girls look like models at first sight, some others only unveil their potential with their first tests or editorials. She did and does both. Brejge’s big blue eyes, delicate lips and unique chin are forever.

What Unique Truly Means: Wanessa Milhomem

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on May 20, 2009

Wanessa Milhomem became a favorite of ours as soon as we noticed her. She was just beginning and looked slightly awkward on her first pictures which added an extra touch of charm to her character. Very talented and learning quickly, she didn’t need too much time to build a serious portfolio and runway reputation. Her Fall 2009 season includes some precious and prestigious catwalks from New York and London. Count designers like Philip Lim, Vera Wang, John Rocha or Paul Smith on her list.

After already appearing on a few glossy pages, proving she can make it in editorials as well and giving some deep intensity to any piece of her portfolio from test shots to underground publications to high level magazines. Sometimes the cream of top has an underground edge as well and that’s what happened with 032c magazine, latest issue, where she has a story shot by Viviane Sassen. Sounds like an upcoming update on the most unforgettable face at Select Model Management, London. Stay tuned, soon is so soon.

Polina Synyavska Joins The Club

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on May 27, 2009

She’s not the tallest model of the season but certainly not the least remarkable. We could even say one of the most remarkable and another great example of these girls who prove you there is a life slightly under 5’10. What’s the secret ? An unforgettable cute face able to express things another simply couldn’t, joining the selective club of the ethereal and expressive blondes including famous faces from Viktoriya Sasonkina to Alek Alexeyeva. Girls with enough presence on the runway and some extreme talents for editorials, able to renew their look from one job to the other. Looks like Polina took this way for her first season: she made her debuts in Milan (with Why Not Models) at Blugirl and Antonio Marras. If they are not the most coveted shows in town, they are some of the most attentive to new talents and a great place to notice newcomers.

Found by Vo! Models in Ukraine, an agency already known for girls like Naty Chabanenko who opened Prada two seasons ago, we can assume her career is in good hands and her work in Milan already goes further than just a few catwalks. She’s recently appeared in magazines like Kult, April 2009 issue shot by Aline and Jacqueline Tappia. A little masterpiece in her portfolio with some incredible expressions, something that could make her famous in a near future. She has also worked with photographers like Thomas Straub or Andrea Garuti and if you’re familiar with italian publications you might have a few pieces of her on your magazine shelves. Again, you might notice her as the expressive blonde with green eyes and delicate freckly skin. Again, you might feel the potential.
