What Will Be Will Be: Michal Szulc + Lukasz Zietek + Karolina Mikolajczyk

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on August 19, 2009

We were asked recently if we were interested in publishing a brand new story by Lukasz Zietek on Lexposure. We immediately said yes (with a few exclamation marks), it was exactly the kind of topic we are looking for. The concept, the team, the model. Everything seems made for Lexposure. A glimpse to the future, actually, with the upcoming designer, photographer and model. Couldn’t be more perfect. First, because of Lukasz himself, a true Polish maestro and a geniune visionary. His influence on Polish models’ portfolios could be compared to Chadwick Tyler’s in New York. A visual revolution bringing an international touch to local books. He seemed to be the perfect one to shoot this spread.

Then, the designer, Michal Szulc. Born in 1983 in

A Vulnerability Issue

by Maud Lemoine posted on July 21, 2009

Playing Fashion Edition is a non-commercial project focused on fashion, contemporary art and culture. It’s a quarterly webzine created all over the world – from Moscow to Paris to New York to London.
Playing Fashion Edition launched its redesigned Summer issue with Vulnerability as its theme.

If you flick through this issue, one thing you’ll definetely notice is that there is plenty of nudity. From the main cover to images of girls as beautiful as they are inspiring – one can’t help but spot flesh, flesh, flesh. This wasn’t an intention. Nor was there any need to look terribly trendy, sexy or shocking. Unconsciously, nudity came up as a strong visual statement on something people are experiencing now

Lola Lola

by Beatrix K posted on August 12, 2009

In the September 2009 issue of Elle US, Maggie Bullock pens a short yet fascinating article on the renowned Marc Jacobs, with the interview conversation ranging from the topic of his latest muse to the release of the new Marc Jacobs fragrance: Lola. It’s the latter we’ll focus on, as the Jacobs feature also comes with a short yet breathtaking Dusan Reljin story starring the first spokemodel of Lola: Karlie Kloss. Amongst florals and dark pink hues, she seems more like an experienced supermodel rather than a young girl with barely a couple of years of experience. It is no wonder that so many designers, much less Marc Jacobs himself (“There is something self-conscious about her…very sweet.”), have become so taken with the young American.

Elle Girl

by Beatrix K posted on August 13, 2009

From Teen Vogue to Marie Claire Italia, from Alberta Ferretti to American Eagle – former Lexposed Face Madisyn Ritland has proven herself to be one of the most prominent and versatile faces in the industry as of late. In Elle US’ September 2009 issue editorial “Electric Company,” the student from Columbia is photographed by Yelena Yemchuk in the photographer’s signature quirky, floral-dominant style. Even in these previews, Madisyn stands out as a free-flowing spirit, dwelling in her surroundings dynamically – like a nymph – while showing off matching attire. It is evident that Elle itself has taken a new direction in this new publication season, and

Translating It: Katlin Aas In Numéro 106

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on August 17, 2009

Time went by since Katlin Aas was featured in Lexposure’s most important newcomers of the season and that whole review we wrote on her. Time and a campaign for Prada, actually, strengthening the image of Prada-girl she had after walking for the brand’s Fall/Winter 09-10 collection last February in Milan. We haven’t forgotten the words we used to describe her appeal and it seems they weren’t badly chosen. We talked about the shock of the new she brought to Prada’s aesthetic as well as the way some faces are able to rewrite the history of beauty with their own features. Of course, it takes a good exposure and some great casting director(s) standing behind to make a career go on. With Russell Marsh and a campaign, Katlin has no reasons to worr

Sneeze n° 5

by Maud Lemoine posted on August 19, 2009

A five-stars visual for the fifth issue of Sneeze Magazine with Robert Nethery behind the lens backed by the styling skills of the one and only James Tinnelly. A different approach of nudity was warmly welcome as well, revamping the concept, revisiting its usual codes. While mainstream magazines are definitely getting more mainstream than ever, Sneeze’s breeze of fresh (and creative) air adds a new aura to all these alternative publications we love, have always loved and will probably love forever. Valentina Zeliaeva also appears as a perfect casting choice, risking herself a little further from her own beaten tracks. Both true to her perenially sleek vibe (and classic beauty) and daring to look slightly different, she seems to prove us tha
