Bjork Graces The Cover Of Interview Magazine

by Anna Eimerl posted on June 05, 2009

The cover image of Interview Magazine this month knows how to entice us with its shot of the incredible music goddess, Bjork, as taken by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

The cover features a veritable contrast to the rather colourful artwork of Bjork’s latest album, Volta, and shows us all of the unexpected beauty behind the songstress.

Never one to be without innovate ideas, in the shot the small Icelander is decorated with a crystal and a psychedelic tear her left eye.

When Bjork speaks, it sounds like poetry. So we are very excited to her interview.

Johnson, Cox & Riggs By Nagi Sakai For TUSH Magazine #2

by Anna Eimerl posted on May 26, 2009

The clever blurring of traditional gender boundaries lies within the photo titled, “The Boys of Venus” for Tush Magazine. In it, Dennis Johnson, Tommy Cox and Tyler Riggs are neatly trimmed by stylist Tyron Machhausen with glitter eye shadow, rouge and eyeliner.

Before the camera of photographer Nagi Sakai, the gentlemen work their ladyboy looks but their maleness remains in tact so much so that I might be able to convince my friends to spontaneously wear man-makeup!

VMAN Summer 2009 : Joseph Gordon-Levitt by David Sims

by Anna Eimerl posted on May 14, 2009

Photographed by David Sims and styled by Nicola Formichetti, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt graces the cover of the latest issue of VMAN. The black and white shot of Gordon-Levitt is dark and moody, but completely appropriate when you take into consideration the dominance of black colour palettes this coming fall. Look for the issue as it hits newsstands Thursday, May 14, 2009.

I love the pensive feel of this image and the lack of eye contact with its viewer. I also love the way in Sims has managed to give Joseph a good ten years on his perpetually boyish face (or course, I mean this in the best possible way!) he looks like a man in this image -

Irina Lazareanu in Vogue Italia May 2009, Dreamy

by Anna Eimerl posted on May 13, 2009

Irina Lazareanu, who has been in hiatus mode with an entirely full on schedule that forced her to skipping both the Spring 2009 and Fall 2009 runways (except for a brief appearance at selected couture shows in January), is back in Miles Aldridge’s technicolored, “Dreamy” for Vogue Italia

The colours remind me of both summertime and of a bizarre dream-world and I really can’t think of any other model who could have played the part better than Irina. If you ask me, she kind of looks like the female version of Edward Scissorhands. Lace tights and bright pink lips for spring? – Yes, please!

LOOKBOOK.nu Trendwatch: Short Shorts Like Bare Legs

by Anna Eimerl posted on May 05, 2009

The world is becoming a hotter place thanks to global warming and now it’s official – short shorts for men are back!

Never has a piece of clothing garnered so much undeserved hatred. Legends like Magnum PI and James Bond made the short shorts famous but grunge and hip hop eclipsed this trend of 80’s and 70’s fashion. But now that every one has realized that baggy pants only hide sexy muscular legs, the short shorts are back. Today’s teenagers may not realize it yet, but behind any culturally-engrained “yuck” is a gutteral “oh yeah, baby!”.

Read the great articel ‘Shorts Crack the Code’ about it at NYTimes here..

The Polish supermodel, Magdalena Frackowiak, has a list of 2009 covers that seems to be growing daily. Two new additions to her impressive portfolio include
the cover of next month’s Numero‘s 103rd issue, photographed by Solve Sundsbo, which shows her ethereal beauty being enhanced into a blonde-white nymph with orchids dangling from her mouth as well as the May issue of Vogue Russia. In it, the covergirl was photographed by Tom Munro, and is shown in a vintage-retro sailor inspired swimwear from the Spring Summer Couture Collection by Jean Paul Gaultier.
