Real faces in French Elle
by Beeke Melcher posted on April 16, 2009Photoshopped pictures are everywhere nowadays, to the point that every magazine cover and every advert can no longer be taken at face-value. Every model or celebrity is more beautiful on these pages than in real life – every blemish vanishes, every extra pound around the hips and thighs is lost thanks to the touch of a computer mouse here and there.
French Elle have decided to take the bold (and newsworthy) step of doing a big editorial “Stars Sans Fards” where eight major European celebrities pose without any make-up and photoshop improvement on its multiple covers.
Among others are Italian cinema goddess Monica Bellucci, top model Eva Herzigova, French Hollywood export Sophie Marceau, Charlotte Rampling and 1980s Chanel Muse Inès de la Fressange have all had the guts to pose without make-up masks and photo-shop trickery.
Shot by Peter Lindbergh the stars were treated as before a “normal” photo shoot: they were got maked up and hairs got done: simply to remove it afterwards with a lotion leaving the ladies with nothing more than a healthy glow. Bravo to them!
