What Will Be Will Be: Michal Szulc + Lukasz Zietek + Karolina Mikolajczyk
by Maud & Pénélope . posted on August 19, 2009We were asked recently if we were interested in publishing a brand new story by Lukasz Zietek on Lexposure. We immediately said yes (with a few exclamation marks), it was exactly the kind of topic we are looking for. The concept, the team, the model. Everything seems made for Lexposure. A glimpse to the future, actually, with the upcoming designer, photographer and model. Couldn’t be more perfect. First, because of Lukasz himself, a true Polish maestro and a geniune visionary. His influence on Polish models’ portfolios could be compared to Chadwick Tyler’s in New York. A visual revolution bringing an international touch to local books. He seemed to be the perfect one to shoot this spread.
Then, the designer, Michal Szulc. Born in 1983 in Lodz, Poland, his personal touch combines streetwear and simple yet sophisticated details, playful shapes and fabrics leading to this uncanny impression of wearability we can see in his latest collection entitled What Will Be Will Be. And, indeed, whatever will be will be. It couldn’t have a better title and sounds like a mirror of Michal Szulc’s vision which clearly claims he’s seeking for complication within simplicity and is fully aware that there is no perfect outfit for a perfect user. Everyone has his own way to wear his clothes which can be worn several different ways. Add his favorite color shades to the mix and what you see is what you’ll get.
Last but not least, the model. Last ingredient of the formula and the character supposed to embody the collection. Smartest choice again for such a brilliant team: Karolina Mikolajczyk. Managed by D’vision Models in Warsaw and represented by Next worldwide, she’s the epitome of an intellectual beauty, daring to be different from Next’s classic aesthetics and relying on her own look to build her career. Apart from strengthening our knowledge of Karolina’s inherent talents, this new piece of her portfolio puts a little light on what remained unexplored: a totally unexpected playful attitude in front of the camera. Karolina unveiled as a bonus.
