The Journal – Contemporary Culture
by do you read me ?! posted on April 22, 2009The collective behind The Journal, a new york based quarterly, lives what it writes about – contemporary culture. Every issue is an ever surprising anthology of upcoming and established cultural figures, throwing a candid look on art, music, photography, fashion, literature and design.
Featuring the likes of Jürgen Teller, Pamela Anderson, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Anton Kern and Geroge Herms in extensive photo-stories and in-depth interviews and showcasing Gia Coppla, Xylor Jane, Zines, Chairlift, Ben Jones and the Ukraine (by Boris Mikhailov) in their latest “Entry 26” tells its own tale.
Recently The Journal Gallery, once established in 2004 as an open space for parties, book signings, performances and art shows, draws more and more attention. If you are around make sure to visit the upcoming exhibition “Touch of Grey” of Evan Gruzius, May 8th to June 8th, from Tuesday to Saturday 12pm to 6pm, at 168 North 1st Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211.
