She Doesn't Wink But It's What You Think: Alek Alexeyeva in i-D

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on September 08, 2009

Pretty young things as the title of the new issue of i-D says, while latest UK Elle talks about London calling. We’d say that London is calling right now and many pretty young things are already answering the call. Fresh faces ready for the frenzy, the highly coveted and their challengers will be walking side by side in a little more than one week. If all the attention goes to New York today, tomorrow is never too far away and everyone who has serious expectations for this season has to keep London in mind. Now. Tomorrow is always too late.

One of the serious contenders who also knows how to be one of the most coveted in town is our former Lexposed Face, the always incredible Alek Alexeyeva. She’s been featured here as often as she had an

Deluxe De Rijk: Anna in 10 Magazine

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on August 25, 2009

Anna de Rijk was one of Lexposure’s favorite girls of Fall-Winter 2009/10 and after such a sensational season, her editorial book experienced a major improvement in number, quality and reputation. Magazines like Vogue Italia and now 10 couldn’t miss a model like her and we certainly understand their choice: there is something about Anna you probably won’t see twice. If she’s poised at an unmatched level, she’s also can appear as limitlessly playful and several pictures of this editorial by Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer (styled by David Vandewal) have a subtle touch of humour. Last but not least, the name of the story, Fantastical, sounds absolutely perfect to describe the atmosphere both by its sense and music. Between fancy, grote

The Show Must Go On: Alla Kostromicheva in and on 10 Magazine

by Maud & Pénélope . posted on August 24, 2009

She rocked our socks with her very uncanny way to hold her leg on a moody black and white picture by Cedric Buchet which turned out to be one of the most stunning covers of the season. And while the atmosphere might be moody, Alla is labeled by the magazine itself as one of the less moody model they’ve seen and the Ukrainian beauty is rather described as always smiling, never down and full of energy, even asking why every single model is not like her. We can testify from the few times we saw her quickly at the shows in Paris. We sensed something going on between Alla and 10, now it’s reality. She’s not only the cover-girl of their newest issue, she’s also featured twice in the magazine, had her interview in 10 questions and got the honour o

American Beauty : Ali in Allure

by Beatrix K posted on August 21, 2009

Since her debut in the industry, the ability for Ali Stephens to command attention in her editorials – most notably through the strength of her poses – has been proven time and again. In its September 2009 issue, Norman Jean Roy and Allure Magazine take advantage of Ali’s modeling potential in another fashion, revealing her breathtaking bone structure in various close-ups – beauty shots that Allure no doubt does best. And no matter what shade the makeup, Elite’s young starlet looks refreshing yet exquisite, indicating a type of versatility few can achieve.

The New Professionals

by Beatrix K posted on August 20, 2009

The best suits of the new season dominate Allure Magazine’s latest Patrick Demarchelier editorial in the publication’s September 2009 issue. Whether it is cashmere by Jil Sander, flannel by Yves Saint Laurent, or Wood twill by Narciso Rodriguez, models Bruna Tenorio, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Sessilee Lopez, and Tao Okamoto wear them effortlessly, each instantly transforming from young girl to sophisticated woman before our very eyes. The creative direction overall is distinguishable from previous editorials of this nature in Allure, where random full-lengths and half-lengths of a single model cover the pages. Instead of focusing on footwear, “Suit Up” lives up to its name, drawing all attention to the best luxury brand looks for today’s hard-work

Carefree Days

by Beatrix K posted on August 19, 2009

It’s difficult to describe the brilliance of Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott’s latest 26-page story, “Sunday in the Park,” as seen in W Magazine’s September 2009 issue. At first glance, our eyes are overwhelmed with the sense of carefree nostalgia that the photographs portray in the midst of the pleasant morning sunlight. Under the style direction of Alex White, top girls Guinevere van Seenus, Lara Stone, and Edita Vilkeviciute – flanked by “loyal servants” Mark Cox and Philipp Bierbaum – don various mixtures of lingerie and ready-to-wear pieces, basking in the glory of the moment and seemingly unaware of any troubles that may be looming. Only happiness exists in their world: one that looks backward at better days and yet also looks optimistical
