A Cadillac makes a statement about who you are: an editorial in W too (if you're Ymre)
by Maud & Pénélope . posted on February 17, 2009Only two days ago, we told you how Ragnhild Jevne’s showcard caught our eyes and how we immediately loved the picture on it. Sometimes it takes much longer and goes high then low.It went down then up again with Ymre Stiekema. We were impressed by one of her first tests then not so much by the next batch of pictures. Then she walked Prada and the rest is history.
Ymre became an official Prada-girl scoring the campaign and even more, she caught attention from the whole fashion world and even turned into one of Meisel’s current favorites. Her story by him published at the end of 2008 in Vogue Italia, especially one page, gave us a second kick. The ingredients were the same as on that famous test: she looked a bit lost in her thoughts and brought much emotion through her poses. Ymre’s body language has something unique and it’s quite useful for a model.
Ymre is also the living example that beauty comes through paradoxes and could be called a queen of the extremes. She needs either a very natural and minimal styling or a very sophisticated, almost overdone and truly overwhelming one. Her Couture experiences at Dior and Valentino (she closed the latter) were like a statement about who she was. Or more exactly who she can be, what she can embody. From raw emotions to the most refined and radiant elegance.
Next step and you could consider it as a kind of statement too: her latest editorial in current W by Craig McDean. It clearly blurries the lines between “the two Ymre”. Substantially. She looks rather sleek yet melts into the many visual effects used all over the story. Who knew the perfect match was also the most surprising ? We didn’t, but it’s always a pleasure to be enthralled and astonished.
