Carmen Kass + Mario Testino in Stern 23: Let‘s Do Something Amazing!
by Rie Cau posted on June 05, 2009We really did not believe our tired red eyes from everyday internet surfing, when we saw this particular editorial from Stern (English: Star), the German weekly magazine, which focuses on explosive political, economical and cultural news items. Is that really a fashion editorial with a cluster of high fashion‘s favourite creative collectives? We have to rub our eyes thrice and check the calendar to be certain this is for real. Today is certainly not April Fool‘s Day, but today is certainly fit for this mega stellar editorial.
For Stern Magazine‘s 23rd issue, Carmen Kass stars as the shooting star of
‘Verrucht in Berlin’ (English: Wicked in Berlin) – a high voltage 8-page editorial.
Photographed by Mario Testino and styled by Beat Bolliger, the Estonian model shows us a brave new world of dare-to-bare in and out in Germany‘s captivating capital city: Berlin.
The inspiration for this photo shoot as Mr. Testino says is: ”Let‘s do something amazing!” and voila! The result is certainly manifest, as this is simply stars in our eyes.
Two out of this stunning set of six photographs are shot on location in Potsdamer Platz, the heart of the metropolis and illustrious home of the Daimler complex, Berlin‘s Sony Center and above all, the glamorous Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Do not expect this modest Eesti to shy away from the camera in the presence of this larger-than-life hi-tech world. Preili Kass or shall we say it in English – Ms. Cat – toys mischievously with curious onlookers in her racy gear in the same manner as her surname fittingly suggests. Bottom baring and breast baring were the ultimate way to go for this Agent Provocateur.
Watch out for those sky high platform ankle boots – the last of which we would see from designer Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci, who officially parted ways with the Parisian luxury fashion house after the Fall/Winter 09.10 runway presentation. Along with Maison Martin Margiela‘s hard-duty leather apron and Junko Shimada‘s hostile mask, these dangerous heels paved an exceptional way to the land of erotic eros.
”It is exciting and fun to work with him”, says the profound and sexy Baltic model about shooting with the ace photographer. ”Even when my family feels ashamed of me for not wearing any clothes… but one has to feel good in their own skin, no?”
Sexual provocation is, in fact, not the only element in this editorial; as luxury and excess will always be permanently glued to the world of fashion. A dazzling 18 carat white-gold watch from Cartier and the classic Kelly bag from Hermès accompany this red blooded lady‘s journey through all the brilliance in Berlin.
Well… If only Ms. Kass made a stop at the lexposure.net office, we could most certainly make this editorial even more of a blast!
