Fake Farming but True Image: Ymre Stiekema in Vogue Paris
by Maud & Pénélope . posted on March 22, 2009Ymre Stiekema is slightly and slowly slipping away from her Prada-girl image and we must say we are happy with this move. Smart move with three names highly related to Vogue Paris storming around her: first Givenchy during fashion week, now Carine Roitfeld and Patrick Demarchelier for this brand new editorial. We already had this feeling when we saw her after the show in Paris and we can’t deny this story in black and white is perfect match with her beauty type. More relevant, maybe, with her unique abilty to embody this kind of character. Quietly charismatic.
She never really looked like a new face as she was almost immediately propelled to the highest level by some Prada Resort campaing last year but a careful management (Elite in Paris and Milan, One in NY) was enough to keep the freshness by booking rare and precious jobs. It literally means any of her runway appearances is eagerly awaited by every good eye and celebrated as a true catwalk moment. Especially as there is much room for the unexpected, not showing up where she was obviously going to. Then suddenly creating even more buzz where she wasn’t supposed to be.
It goes the same way on the editorial front. After Vogue Italia by Steven Meisel and W by Craig McDean, her newest piece in upcoming Vogue Paris by Patrick Demarchelier isn’t only adding a few more reputable names, it’s also offering a relevant focus on her potential. True to her image of classic beauty with a twist.
