Let it V: the outstanding girls of V58
by Maud & Pénélope . posted on April 06, 2009V58 is certainly an issue of the famous magazine we won’t forget to buy and we can swear it’s already on our shopping-list for the next time we cross the doors of our favorite bookshop. King-size pages and editorials we could describe as larger than life for their ability to mix personal favorites of the mag and obvious rising stars. Provided they are not always the same girls…
First feature to catch our eyes was Addison Gill’s story, shot by no other than Supreme Management’s very own Paul Rowland. Winner of the contest organized by both the magazine and the agency, Addision did quite well this season gathering shows as different as Valentino, Calvin Klein or Louis Vuitton on her booking list. Even if the few lines on first page of her editorial call her a classic beauty, there is much more potential than mainstream beauty in the young Canadian found by genius scout from Canada, Chantale Nadeau (Cate Chant, Simona McIntyre among other discoveries).
Second part of the mag to capture our attention was shot by Beau Grealy and features two extremely interesting girls from Ford Models in NY. Among them is Polina Barbasova, a true favorite of ours and geniune Lexposure girl who turned out to be one of the exclusive models at Givenchy last month. Anouk Hagemeijer, co-starring the editorial, might be less famous at the moment but deserves much attention as well. Strong look, thick dark eye-brows and delicate expressions, you’d better keep her name in mind. First as a true V favorite, then as a potential stunner for the future.
JD Ferguson’s page in this issue is more than interesting too. More than intriguing, more than relevant, more than anything you expect from a fashion magazine. Having Ranya Mordanova featured among the most remarkable up-and-coming ladies of the season is no wonder and she’s in Lexposure’s FW 09-10 Top Ten too. Having Hana Jirickova and Martha Penz as the two others and on the same page is a matter of taste and gives a true idea of how sincere and selective that choice could be. Only one thing seems to count: potential.
Last but not least, the Young Guns by Josh Olins featuring girls like Darya Kurovska and Evelina Mambetova who were both on Lexposure and in Vogue Italia recently as well as other stunners like Katie Fogarty or Suzie Bird. All wearing clothes by a refreshed bunch of designers, currently on the right slope. Talk about rising stars meeting… rising stars. A visual must-see for a wonderful idea, ahead of the game.
