Modern brightness needs a new kind of stardom: Heidi Mount in Numéro 102
by Maud & Pénélope . posted on March 31, 2009An anthology of modern muses. That’s how we could describe the newest issue of Numéro. Girls that are in high demand like Siri Tollerod, Magdalena Frackowiak or Heidi Mount, also on the cover. They have no supermodel status but have all it takes to embrace an brilliant career and enjoy a long-lasting success. They are some kind of new generation, forever fresh, even after dozens of high profile editorials, and might not only be the models of today but most likely also tomorrow. Another kind of brightness, another stardom.
If we were a bit disappointed by the total lack of new girls in the whole magazine, we can only admire both the relevant casting and the thrilling, unusual model/photographer teams they gathered. If Heidi by Sebastian Kim sounds almost natural, it’s a pretty fresh choice for the main editorial and we’re still delightfully shocked by Greg Kadel’s story with Jamie Bochert. We never expect anything from Numéro as it’s almost impossible to predict their future choices in advance but this time it seemed even harder to guess. It looks like any issue at first sight and turns out to be a very unique one after a second look.
Heidi was already captivating on the first cover previews we were able to see. She’s even more now that we discovered a editorial all in black and white. It’s not the first time they use this visual trick but maybe the concept is at its best here. The cover focuses on Heidi, the story shows a focused Heidi juggling with emotions and hairdos. You may think we’re overusing the expression but this issue is another classic with a twist, true to the original trademark of Numéro and full of creativity.
