Vogue Nippon August 2009: Shalom‘s Side of Hollywood
by Rie Cau posted on June 30, 2009As a veteran in the modelling scene, Shalom Harlow, the 30 something-year-old dark-haired Canadian beauty, maybe in and out of the fashion scene these days; but each time she is with us, she makes sure she leaves a lasting impression.
This time, Shalom and her wildly alluring crown of dark hair return with a mesmerising editorial called ”This Side Of Hollywood” in Vogue Nippon August 2009.
Photographed by Swedish sensation Camilla Åkrans, the entire editorial emits the excess and glam Hollywood is notorious for, but it also looks distinctly modern with some very fresh and refreshing elements.
Naturally, we love everything encircling this editorial – from the use of the lavish font style in the opening page to Shalom‘s gracious body language, Camilla‘s photography, the lighting and Sissy Vian‘s striking styling.
We have always wondered what really goes on behind the doors in Hollywood in the year 2009 and well… this particular visualisation is simply beyond our imagination of extravagance.
Naturally, the thing we adore the most is the exuberant wardrobe, which focuses on Fall/Winter 09/10‘s hot new trends: draping and a conspicuous iridescence.
A lot of shiny fabrics are casted into the editorial – with the choice of luxurious silk at large. La Perla and Balenciaga are naturally a stunning stand out in the editorial with its boundless richness and romanticism, but we also liked a sexy peek-a-boo dress from Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain‘s astronomically sparkly dress.
If it is good enough for Hollywood, it is good enough for us!
”This Side Of Hollywood” is presented in the August 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon, which features leggy Polish model Anja Rubik photographed by Inez & Vinoodh on the cover.
