Vroom Vroom: Brüno Hijacks Marie Claire By Force
by Rie Cau posted on June 09, 2009It has only been several days since his ”perfectly-sculpted” bottom became very good ”friends” with the eminent face of Eminem and now he is back in the spotlight for more! This time, thankfully, with his own fair face… and cough a ku… ku… kugelsack.
Already hijacking the new-stand is the July issue of Marie Claire U.K., whose cover features Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio and who else but fashion‘s most-hated but also most-loved gay Austrian journalist: the one-name wonder Brüno – the bubbly character, who came alive from Sacha Baron Cohen’s Da Ali G Show.
The editorial, shot by British Photographer Gavin Bond in the same style as Versace’s classic sassy ad campaigns from the 80s, is wittily entitled ”Fashion Warning! Bruno’s Here” and brings about the battle of the beautiful blondes in full spring.
Even when the Victoria’s Secret angel worked her mighty magic with her bright smile, impeccable body and wondrous wardrobe of the season‘s sexiest swimwear, shoes and dresses to radiate each page of the editorial with an awe-inspiring iridescence of elegance, glamour and sexuality; it was Brüno, his perfectly polished look, natural pout and his flamboyant personality that produce the heated sparks that brought us the Fun in Fashion.
When we saw images of the bright and beautiful Brazilian Babe dressed in Emilio Pucci‘s sparkly sequinned and net mini dress, Hervé Léger‘s bondage swimwear and Versace‘s silk jersey dress, the thought that the same woman gave birth to a baby girl less than one year ago never crossed our minds.
On the contrary, what really burnt our brain cells into hot ashes was Brüno‘s poignant wit and dare-to-wear attitude, which ultimately stuffed our heads with some extreme provocative thoughts of its own.
Take for example: the shameless cheeky sight of him striking a stellar pose in a fashion victim‘s wardrobe and turning it into an incredible va-va-voom extravaganza.
Consequently, shrunken tops and mega-mini hot pants from the childrenswear department became the norm for this Runway Crasher, who hi-jacked Agatha Ruiz de la Prada show last September. Shining silver, go-go-gold and animal print were unsurprisingly his picks as colour schemes for different outfits for the shoot.
Utterly, the whole set of photographs brightened our day up with an uncontrollably silly smile, but when it came to choosing our ultimate favourite, it was a close tie between the Austrian Acrobat picture of Brüno as Ms. Ambrosio‘s ”man-on-back accessory” and the sexy swimwear shot of the pair.
Well… Personally, it was the exhibit of those dangerous manly curves in the latter, which killed all signs of my professionalism in the lexposure.net office today. I knew, I was not alone, when I heard a burst of laughter erupted very violently from somewhere, a few seconds after that particular picture was skyped around.
Watch out for more tears of laughter in the article ”Bruno’s A-Z Of Fashion”, where our outspoken hero reveals his private or not-so-private universe and has a go at anyone and anything from Anna Wintour, Amy Winehouse to Pink and even Tampons.
Beware for Brüno! The movie is due to release on 10 July 2009.
