Paris Part two: models review from Lie Sang Bong, Hiroko Koshino and AF Vandevorst
by Maud & Pénélope . posted on March 05, 2009High, low. High and low. Second day in Paris provided us with a wide range of emotions, from our ecstatic mood of the morning to a real will to reach our bed again right now. A good day during fashion weeks is one of these days you learn, you love and learn to love. This is how it went on this rather sunny thursday of early March. Lie Sang Bong was the first show of the day and was held in that lovely hotel, one of the few places of the fashion world where toilets aren’t considered either as luxury or secondary. The collection was great, tiger prints, metallic fabrics and metallic tiger prints. Wide shoulders then extra-wide shoulders and you’ve got the main idea of the silhouettes. No better choice than Emma Karlsson to open it with her shy yet impish look, thin lips, quirky jawline and platinum-blond hair. Next outfit, next blonde: Yvonne Eriksen. From Norway to City Models in Paris, she was one of the fantastic faces we discovered a few seasons ago at the same show. Lucyna Amszej and Hollis Wakeema were the very best on the runway. Fierce yet poised. Too bad Hollis went away too fast after the show, we would have loved a quick snap of her as well but it’s good to know she’s at her best. And in town right now. Best backstage surprise is called Natalie Keyser, American redhead wearing a Blondie tee-shirt. We love the way she walks, we adore the way she talks. Captivating. Other lovely ones were Tereza Cernanova, Alisa Matviychuk and Laia Moliner from Marilyn and Jett at IMG. Casting director Sascha Lilic did a wondeful job this season again and Ellen Von Unwerth was taking snap shots of the girls she liked. This was for the atmosphere. Another trip to the toilettes and we rushed to our next show.
Hiroko Koshino. It took place at the Louvre, another part of Paris that always makes us happy. The show was good, the casting too. Nothing overwhelming but all was so nice. Too nice ? Never. Seeing Edythe Hughes at another show is always a pleasure, especially two days in a row. Especially in the same casting as Kelli Lumi (who walked for another, more famous, one in the afternoon), Tamara Pernar, Masha Kirsanova or Anastasia Krivosheeva. The super cute ones, cute with charisma. A rare mix we’ve seen on the catwalk from look number one till the end. Or almost. A glass of champagne and it was already lunchtime. We lunched and rushed again.
Last of today is one of our usual favorites. AF Vandevorst. Clothes were perfect as always. Much creativity, clever ideas all over the collection seem to be a trademark here. A signature. Good casting usually too but that one seemed unusual on this front. Of course, we were biased by last season’s extremely remarkable one (and extremely thrilling soundtrack: Les Diva du Dancing by Philippe Cataldo). This season’s girls lacked of spice despite some good picks (Daria Strokous, Jules Mordovets, Sophie Srej, Angelika Kocheva, Imogen Morris-Clarke, Anna Gushina…). It even looked pleonastic or outdated or overdone. Too bad, the gorgeous grey outfits deserved a bit more attention than a regular New York casting. Off to bed now and hopefully Paris will wake up with us tomorrow. Well, we can already feel the thrill after hearing Aida Aniulyte (featured in yesterday’s review) opened Nina Ricci…
