Today P & C is aiming at glamourous high fashion. Fashionation was opened on the 2nd of March and evidently many stars and starlets wanted to be part of it. Fashion happens here!
Labels such as Burberry London, Acne, Givenchy, Red Valentino, Jil Sander Navy, Paul Smith or Raf Simons perfectly represent the minimalistic Style of the Store-in-Store concept. Within an amazing location, an incredible mix of old and new, edgy and modern style, your shopping trip at Fashionation will turn into an unforgettable experience. And as if the breathtaking location wasn’t enough, the party was a great success!
Trendy French Duo Something A la Mode were playing, supporting no one less than Karl Lagerfeld and his fashion show for the fourth time in a row this year. An incredible Electro-Classic-Mix made the crowd go wild. Guests such as Franziska Knuppe, Luca Gadjus and Jessica Schwarz couldn’t keep their legs still and enjoyed an evening full of excitement and glamour in Berlin.
What did these celebrities have to say about the Party? To find out, just click here

I must say, the entire experience was very well organized; waiters gliding through the crowds with platters of prosecco, beer, finger food, and sushi, which everyone seemed to be eating except for ME. Me and my wing-woman literally went on a sushi hunt in an attempt to locate the source. All we consecutively came across however was the pink prosecco toting platters, and the aftermath dictated I got way more drunk than I realized.
Smoking outside in the designated smoking area, a bright, ugly light and a microphone gets shoved in my face and a man with a hint of a french accent and lazy eyes asks me what I think of the party. The entire experience is excruciatingly nerve wrecking and surreal; I have absolutely no recollection of what I said after it’s all done. Turns out it was the (in)famous Face Hunter.. Can’t wait to see that footage when it’s up. Maybe I’ll settle along the ranks of Starwars Kid and the nervous weatherman.

Further impressions of the first Volvo Subject60 party: Lots of high heels, lots of cameras, a certain restless atmosphere, which only settled down somewhat when Lykke Li performed. Wearing mega platform heels under long legs, and scraggly hair covering a pretty face, Lykke Li sang her little heart out and most definitely comprised the highlight of the night.

My housemate pops in at this very moment, peering over my shoulder, initiating the nervous-making process. “That’s boring. How long has she been around for? 30 years?”

Not quite. But almost. Twenty-two years; discovered in 1988 at the age of 14, Kate Moss has been a pop culture and fashion muse for over two decades. Some can’t see what the big deal about her is and - dare I even utter it - even call her ugly, others continue to be mesmerized by her beauty, a beauty that I interpret as a very rare mixture of innocence and sensuality.

I suppose my housemate falls into the first category just mentioned (aka Kate-bigots). Though I wouldn’t pay €43000 for some snapshots even if I had it, considering Kate’s cultural status I don’t deny the merit of these photos as art. And thus worthy of €43000? Well that’s another discussion.

Apparently a female employee at the Marc Jacobs store in Soho, New York, mistook a delivery of cocaine for a packet of anthrax, and called the cops on it. Mistaking cocaine for anthrax.. only in this day and age.

According to the New York Post: “A rep for Marc Jacobs had no comment, while a manager at the store hung up”. They make me look really square and larger than I actually am. Which is a darn shame, as I am so drawn to the myriad of their oversized specimins. The memory of running around in your big brother’s cool tshirt (so comfortable, so safe) is cruelly withheld from me, lest I want to look like a large square.

And so, I am left only with the pleasure of looking at the ad campaigns, which are right up there with the Sisley ad’s, as far as eye-candy goes. Taking more ordinary models than the usual beanpole/giraffe prototype, the campaigns are provacative, sexy, and at times downright dirty. A quality I appreciate in ad campaigns.

It’s the garment equivalent of Mo’ money mo’ problems. With every item of clothing you slap on, with increasing franticness, your identity dissipitates more and more. Everything looks ridiculous, everything makes you look frumpy, or slutty, everything makes you look like a toddler, everything is just not you. And then there it is: a beacon of hope, shining in its glory like the savior it is. Your little black dress. The one that never fails. The one that always feels right.

With the summer coming, lets hope the Little White Dress will save us as much as its trusty achromatic counterpart. Michael Kors, Jil Sander, and of course Calvin Klein have some beautiful specimins. Whereas simplicity is key with the L.B.D, the L.W.D allows for more freedom to experiment with patterns, textures, and cuts, by virtue of the purity exuded by white. Check out NYmag’s slideshow of L.W.D’s for inspiration.

Last year Camper teamed up with Dutch product designer Hella Jongerius and her crew, Jongerius lab, to create a new range of shoes for Camper Together.

Embarking on the task, Jongerius lab delved into the Camper archives, to be inspired by its icons: “I decided to continue where the former shoe designers of Camper stopped,” says Jongerius. Four existing models were picked to be scrutinized, praised, and re-invented: Pelota, Peu, Imar, and Brothers.

The Jongerius lab researched the patterns of the classic Pelota and thought of possible ways to refine the stitching. The result remains true to the models’ comfort, class, and simple elegance. No radical changes here; rather, an eloquent emphasis of the shoe’s most defining features.

Tweed fabric, laces, and rubber compose the re-interpretation of the Brothers model, in which “the idea of imperfection and randomness” infused the design, and the Peu is updated with funky multicolored binding, giving it a new eclectic vibe.

Three days in Pino, California, the music festival launched it’s 11th edition just last week. And despite it’s pretty sexy line-up, it is easy to forget that Coachella is a festival and not, technically, a fashion show.

A parade of coolness, nonchalance, grooviness. An eternal brooding space for boho chic. Evidence is popping up all over the net now. A dear friend of mine just recently asked me, in all earnesty, “Is it a festival for the stars?”
It might as well be. Lets take a look at some of the spotlight people seen scouring around the muddy grounds.

Whereas last Spring/Summer’s collection really channeled the London nu-rave vibe of stripes, neon, sliced-up garments, and basically all the things your parents fundamentally wouldn’t understand, this Winter/Autumn collection is more covered up, though none the less futuristic and unsettling to said generation (so last generation anyway).

Noble town houses sprung up along the 3.5 km arc in the 17th century. As the following two centuries progressed, the boulevard became home to the old aristocracy of the Saint-Germain quarter, as they peeked out of their noble town house windows and looked down upon the rising bourgeoisie of the the Right Bank. The 1930’s saw Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir talk existentialism over a cappuccino, and after WWII the boulevard became the definitive second home to the intellectuals and debauchers of Paris. Continuing to be the gathering points for intellectual and political thought, the cafés remain present on the boulevard, but in addition to this, the boulevard is now also a thriving high-end shopping mecca.

This April, in an old noble town house impeccably restored, Polo Ralph Lauren will unveil its largest store to date on the Boulevard. The hôtel particulier is, naturally, particularly stunning- rich carvings and ornamentations, classical 1600’s French architecture, limestone, French white-oak paneling, “Versailles” style parquet flooring.. In a bid to make sure the reconstruction of the building’s architecture not stray from the original, Ralph Lauren says:

“I wanted to create a unique environment that captures the glamour, culture and the artistic spirit of the Paris that I have fallen in love with. Now, with this store opening, in the most romantic part of the city, I finally feel I have been able to tell my whole story in Paris”.

In addition to the various collections of Ralph Lauren, the 13,000 square-foot space also offers you fine dining in the very first Ralph Lauren restaurant in Europe- “Ralph’s”

It’s etymology comprises a jet-set existence, taking influence from Nîmes, France, where the sturdy fabric serge was manufactured and originally called ‘serge de Nîmes’. Essentially distinguishing serge from ‘jeans’, indigo dye was used to color the fabric blue. Denim’s journey as we know it today ended in Genoa (Gênes), Italy, where the first denim trousers were made.

And so the brief history of denim.

Can we imagine a world without jeans? What would Dsquared do? Diesel? G-starr? Levis!?
Without the indigo stained rugged twill textile, the world would furthermore be robbed of the denim creations of Spanish label Desigual. Since 1984, Disegual have been contributing to the denim legacy and this year present another beautiful collection of trousers, skirts, dresses, shirts. Sturdy, soft, twisted, flowing- denim is utilized to its full potential in original and classic designs.
