LOOKBOOK.NU Trendwatch: Mellow Yellow

Nothing special you might think, but well, we have been punished with so much rain over the last few weeks and the fact that the sun is shining and we haven’t seen any rain as of yet today, is enough reason for us to dedicate this LOOKBOOK.nu trendwatch to the one thing that lies at the heart of the summer – the bright light of the sun!
So, this time we kept our eyes out for the colour yellow.
We all learned back in our school days, light with a wavelength of 570-580 nanometre is yellow, as in its lighter hues consists of a subtile mixture of somewhat longer and shorter wavelengths.
The ancient Maya associated the colour yellow with the direction South and in the Thai Solar Calendar yellow is associated with Monday.
The snooker ball that has a 2-point value is yellow and in some countries taxis are, too.
Not to forget the music that’s been made with the colour as inspiration, Yellow Submarine from The Beatles, Mellow Yellow from Donovan and Coldplay ’s single, Yellow.
Good to know that, but what has that to do with todays trendwatch?
Nothing really, but some tidbits of good background information has never hurt anyone.
And if the sun decides not to show itself tomorrow, the girls at LOOKBOOK.nu will undoubtedly show us how to lighten up and shine bright even if the weather is grey.
