Ode to the American Apparel campaigns
by Floor Serbrock posted on May 17, 2010American Apparel’s tshirts just look weird on me. They make me look really square and larger than I actually am. Which is a darn shame, as I am so drawn to the myriad of their oversized specimins. The memory of running around in your big brother’s cool tshirt (so comfortable, so safe) is cruelly withheld from me, lest I want to look like a large square.
And so, I am left only with the pleasure of looking at the ad campaigns, which are right up there with the Sisley ad’s, as far as eye-candy goes. Taking more ordinary models than the usual beanpole/giraffe prototype, the campaigns are provacative, sexy, and at times downright dirty. A quality I appreciate in ad campaigns.
Check out Christina, Alana, Veronica, Marcus and the many, many more models that together make up the American Apparel archive. There are so many, it’s a great place to waste time and summon up inspiration.
